Ramblings: Grandpa made it through his surgery with no problems! Mom and uncle Jeff stayed last night. Hopefully they were able to get some sleep. Normally Grandpa tries to get out of bed at all hours, but with the surgery and pain meds, he should've slept last night.

Today is Cinco de Mayo! This day celebrates the Mexican army's victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, and gives American's another reason to drink and eat!

After we got home last night, around 8pm, DH was hungry. I had already eaten at the hospital (Metro's food is not bad!) I said I'd go along wherever he wanted to go. So we headed out to our favorite local restaurant, El Ranchero. It was about 8:40 and I think they close the kitchen at 9:00. Anyway, the manager was standing outside enjoying the nice weather. He gave us a warm welcome and we went in, made ourselves visible to the waiter at the register. After about 30 seconds, he walked outside to join the manager. No other waiters around, no bartender, no bus boys, only 3 tables of customers. After waiting another couple minutes, we left and went to another restaurant, vowing to never go back there again.

We got our mexican food at The Other Place (formerly Eddies Pizza). Short draughts were on special for $1 during the Tigers game and tacos were $1.25, so it was a cheap late dinner for DH.

Love, Catherine
